Cylinder Head

A cylinder head closes the top of the cylinder bores and carries the combustion chambers, valve train and injector seats, so casting quality and valve fitment decide how an engine runs after a rebuild. Applications

The same diesel cylinder head is often shared across more than one platform, so the engine model matters more than the vehicle it sits in.

Bare or complete assemblies

Heads are supplied as a bare cylinder head, as a complete cylinder head with valves and springs fitted, or as a replacement cylinder head assembly for rebuilders who prefer to fit the valve train themselves. A bare cylinder head for heavy-duty engines is the usual choice when the original valves and camshaft are being reused; a complete cylinder head with valves is usually faster on a fleet rebuild.

Condition

New, remanufactured, used, original and aftermarket cylinder heads are quoted separately and the condition is stated on the quotation. Heads for excavator engine applications are checked against the machine model as well as the engine code.

Questions buyers ask

Is a bare head or a complete head the right choice?

If your valves, springs and camshaft are within specification, a bare cylinder head is cheaper and faster. If the valve train is worn, a complete cylinder head with valves saves reassembly time.

Do you supply new, used or remanufactured heads?

All three, plus original and aftermarket castings. The quotation always states which condition you are buying.

How do I confirm the head matches my engine?

Send the OEM number and the engine model. We check the casting against both before the order is packed.
